Trauma insurance claim FAQs

What’s the difference between trauma insurance and other insurance?

There are different life insurance products that each protect you from different life events, e.g.:

  • Trauma insurance provides a lump sum payment for medical and life expenses if you’re diagnosed with a critical illness or suffer a serious injury, regardless of its permanent impact or whether you can continue working

  • Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance provides a lump sum payment if you have a permanent illness or injury and can’t work, to help with medical, rehabilitation and living costs

  • Income protection insurance provides monthly payments of part of your annual income, while you can’t work due to illness or injury

  • Life insurance (or Death Benefit) provides a lump sum payment to your loved ones when you die

Do I need to have trauma insurance, income protection or TPD insurance to make a claim?

To make any type of insurance claim, you must first have the relevant type of insurance policy, whether that’s e.g.:
