Should you instruct us to handle your claim, our initial instructions will be to carry out the following:
• Advise the ICWA that we are acting for you.
• Write to your doctor(s) to obtain medical reports on your injuries.
• Seek advice from your doctor on obtaining Specialist reports on your injuries.
• Take a detailed statement from you regarding the effect your injuries have on your future.
• Arrange for you to be examined by a specialist for the purpose of obtaining a medico-legal report.
• Formulate your claim having regard to your injuries and how they will affect you in the future.
Once your condition has stabilised and we and your medical advisers agree that your claim is capable of settlement we will arrange for a settlement conference to be held with you, us, and the ICWA.
It is important to keep in mind that once you have accepted a settlement offer, your right to receive further compensation arising out the same accident is extinguished. That is, if your injuries do not heal, as may have been expected, or your condition deteriorates, as may not have been expected, you will not be able to claim further compensation. Therefore a lot of care should be taken to gather all the available medical evidence on your condition prior to attempting to settle your claim.
